When Jamie visited mom on Wednesday, he had brought crispy chicken
wings. Mom was so happy when she saw the
treat. They headed towards the Garden
Room. for their picnic lunch. Jamie noticed that mom’s mouth
tremor made her jaw move uncontrollably fast making eating impossible. In order to help her, he tried pulling the
meat off the bone. As everyone in our
family knows mom has always enjoyed chewing on the bones until she could make
the bones sparkle.
Mom grew up during
the Great Depression where there was little food to go around at their dinner
table. Mom did not want the chicken
meat. She wanted Jamie to eat the meat
and give her the bones. He left some
meat on them for mom, but she knew what he was doing. Jamie realized how difficult eating these
chicken wings was for mom now.
Mom was
grateful for his efforts to please her, but said, “Don’t bring . . . again!”
